Pregnancy Diaries: Welcome Josefine!

She's Here!

Josefine Adelaide Engle
June 29
5:17 pm
7 pounds 15.7 ounces
2o inches long

Another random piece of information for the curious at heart:

I overheard the nurse telling Dr. that her umbilical cord was 44 cm long. And I just couldn't resist including that in Josefine's stats. I mean, seriously, it's been her lifeline for, like, 9 mos!

Anyway...on a more serious note.

It's been nearly 2 weeks now since she was born...just haven't found the time to blog. Most of my time is spent feeding, changing, adjusting, healing, etc. You get the picture. It's been a whirlwind, let me tell you. It's hard to believe she's really ours! But, the "new normal" (as Nurse Kristy would say) of it all is finally settling in. It's humbling. Truly. My prayer life has encountered a whole new level of desperation and dependance on God. I haven't felt such a need for His wisdom and guidance since...well, since my decision to trust Him for my salvation.
We are already praying this way for our little girl - that she would see her need for Jesus Christ as her Savior. But, we are also praying that she would sleep well, eat well, and grow strong physically, emotionally and spiritually. Pray with us along these lines. We need it! We're all learning here (all 3 of us)!
Oh, and if you're interested I have a blog set up for Josefine now, too. It's called "Everyday Josefine" and it will include a picture and short caption everyday about life with Josefine. I need to play catch-up first. I have almost 2 weeks of pictures and captions to post. "Everyday Josefine" is mainly a blog for our far away family and friends to get to see and stay up-to-date with our little Josefine. But, all are welcome, of course!

So sweet! I have been praying for you as you make this adjustment -- I remember being in your shoes not long ago. As Dave commented not long after we had Lily, "It's kind of like running a marathon that you didn't really train for." It's hard to really prepare yourself for what life will be like with a newborn! But it's so worth it -- the good days do eventually outnumber the bad! I have never been more aware of my selfishness than after I had a baby -- truly humbling, that's for sure!

Love the idea for a "Josefine" blog! You're so creative!

Sorry for the long comment -- you are in my prayers! Give Josefine a kiss for me :)

Ooh, I love the idea of the Josefine blog as well - heading over to check it out! :) Congratulations - what a sweet little girl!!! :) And, yeah, I had a SUPER hard adjustment to being a mommy with Zachary - it is SO exhausting, and I do not do well with lack of sleep. :) But you will get through it, and I'm so glad you're learning early to depend on God for your strength & wisdom - I pray for patience & wisdom every day now, some days more than others. :) Hope you're doing well, and remember - it WILL get easier! :)

Congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL baby girl! A friend of mine just told me about your blog, and I'm so excited! I'm a young pastors wife, my husband is the Outreach Pastor, so he is basically a local & forgeign missionary. I'm super excited to read the journey of another woman in the same boat with me!
