In Honor Of...

my *new* camera and my *new* decision, I will be hosting my second giveaway!

Here's the scoop:

My good and faithful camera bit the dust a few weeks ago...sad, sad news - as we were becoming very good friends. BUT, not all is lost. Because the "glitch" was irrepairable, our warranty allowed me to get an "exhange approval." This meant I got to go shopping for a new camera yesterday morning...right before a wedding shoot. No pressure, right? ;)

Now we have a new member of the family...it's a Canon 50D and I love, love, LOVE it. Dear Rebel, Do not be saddened by your replacement. Love, Sarah. Anyway, I have this quirky thing about naming stuff. Our car (which is officially dead as well...too bad we don't get "exchange approval" for that) is named Black Beauty. I know, I know. Lame. The old Ford is named Vulcan for it's tendancy to bursting into flames at any given moment, and the itty-bitty Escort is called "The One Dollar Wonder" for he only cost me a dollar (we may soon be selling all three of these...sniff, sniff). And because I enjoy attaching myself to inanimate objects (despite separation anxiety), I figured, hey...why not? I'll name my new Canon, too! But, I'll need a little help from YOU.

  • Submit a name for my camera, by commenting on this post.
  • I'll choose 5 of my favorite names on Thursday, October 8th.
  • I'll randomly choose which one of the 5 will be my camera's name, courtesy of Random.org and announce the winner on Friday, October 9th!

Give me a name!

The winner of this giveaway will receive a padded gadget case from Woodly Creations. It's such a practical thing, I would say. Small enough not to get in the way, and big enough to hold your precious electronic doo-dad. I would recommend using it for your point and shoot digital camera...but, that's just me. But, now that I think of it, it would be so handy for your cell phone. No more digging around at the bottom of your purse whilst the cell phone rings on...and on...and on. It's just your all-around carrying thing.

And if you like naming things - and you like giveaways...see my friend Katie's Blog for a similar giveaway! :)

I say call her/him/it Phoenix, because it "rose from the ashes" of the Rebel. LOL

My hubby is a pro photographer too. He got a Nikon D90 last year and loves it. I have a Rebel from 2004. It's old a Methusaleh (sp?) in camera years but it's still a great camera.

:) Hi Sarah! I found it! It looks like a Cyclops (sp?) to me. :) Hope you are all well. Love, Crystal

I'm not sure why, but that camera looks like a Charlotte to me.

I would name it Pookie because a camera that amazing deserves a pet name. I'll go sit over here now and just sigh jealously. Maybe someday I will get to take amazing phtos like you :)

I thought I already posted, but I don't know where it went. Anyway, Pachelbel for Canon D, you'll probably hear it at many of the weddings you'll shoot, plus it's one of my favorite pieces. :) Jen G.

I think you should call it Ansel in honor of Ansel Adams, the great b/w photographer, since you too are a great b/w photographer (buttering up the judge).

Hi Bethy- you should name it the "eye". After all it is your "eye" of God.
Love you!

I don't have a suggestion of my own - but Jen G.'s idea is so good I had to comment :)
You should definitely go with Pachelbel! What an idea!

I used to name my vehicles too! The '89 Caravan (which burned oil terribly) that I drove while college was named "Old Faithful" because in spite of its issues it just kept on running; then I got a little red car after that and named it "Little Bob"...

Anyway, about your camera...isn't that neat that even in disappointments that God can give us something better? That is so wonderful about your new camera and your new decision! God will bless! And now for a name for your camera...hmm...how 'bout "Monica"? Like a monocle, one lens-type thing. Guess that's what you get from someone who used to work for an eye dr.! :)

I would have to go with Bob.

I'd call it Rhett.
Short for Rhet-ina....like the lense of a camera a retina.
