It's 9:30pm.
About an hour ago, I got home from a Bible Study on gratefulness...a great study and made me think hard about a lot of things. Jim asked me how the study went, so I told him, and I added about sixty bajillion extra thoughts I'd been having the past few days about the topic of gratefulness, my reaction to "not traveling" lately...my thoughts about feeling as though I'm half "home" and half not, and the struggle therein. Basically, I spilled my missionary wife guts out to him. He listened sweetly. He nodded and said "uh, huh" and indicated that he understood. Then, when I was finally out of breath I asked the common "know what I mean?" question. It was right then I had this incredible craving for bacon. "Jim...I want bacon." Then, I burst into tears. He gave me hug. The sweetest, most understanding, loving hug...and now, he's on his way to the nearest grocery store to pick up some bacon for me.
What a guy. I am so blessed...and so grateful for husband with a listening ear and willing servants heart...to fetch me bacon at 9:30pm.

Stockings!
Oh, wow. I haven't written a post in for-ev-er...and I feel like a loser. Well, only KIND OF like a loser. A little bit...
I mean, seriously - it's been so C-R-A-Z-Y busy. I can't even begin to tell you.
But, I'll try.
First, we went on a road trip to Colorado for some meeting and to see the fam. Fun times, I tell you. FUN times. :)
I have lotsa pictures - none of which I have prepared to share. Because I am...so...busy.
Anyway - THEN, we got stuck in a blizzard on my birthday. So, I call it the Birthday Blizzard of '09. Pretty Snazzy, huh? So, the Hubs, Josefine and I stayed at a hotel on my birthday...with an indoor waterpark, which happened to be closed down because of the fa-reezing water temps. Se, we just hung out in the hotel pool, which was awesome enough, for sure. Josefine had the time of her life...I swear...this girl is a fish!
And, we finally got home last Thursday. And EvErY night (and day) since...has been BUSY. The night we got back, I had a party...Friday, Jim took me out *sigh*, Saturday we had one amazing Sunday School Christmas party with a fabulous (and hilarious) White Elephant Gift Exchage. Sunday - church, of course. Monday - a visit with our Germany-Bound friends. Tuesday was a Sign Language Class and Test, which I don't even think I've mentioned to you that I've recently taken up (and fallen in love with) Sign Language. Holy Cow...I totally don't need to bore you with my EVERY day of the WEEK busy-ness. BUT, it's just a little taste of how busy it's been.
Today, I had a wedding shoot. Beautiful and busy day for sure...I always adore weddings. I never cease to shed at least one tear out of happiness for the lovely couple. And here, I'm supposed to be taking pictures! Anyway - I've got tons of photos to update my photography blog with, too. See what I mean? Is your head spinning with MY schedule yet? I wouldn't be surprised. Mine is. ;)
And here, I've titled my post "Stockings." Oh, rabbit trail.
This is one thing that I've been spending all of my free time on...stockings! :) I have to make mine yet, but I was too excited not to show you Jim's and Josefine's! :)
This is where I got the pattern!

Married a Missionary: Hope Deferred Makes the Heart Sick...
He is in Michigan, I am in Iowa. He's going to propose soon. I just know it. Probably in Germany during our short-term missions trip - the first time we get to see eachother since I got back from my sisters in California a few weeks ago. I mean...he has to before July. He's going through candidate school and will be soon raising support to go to Germany. He can't go without me...
I'm sure of it. Oh, the anticipation!
I'm riding my bike in the summer rain, talking to my man on my cell phone. The ever-popular-during-long-distance-relationships earpiece is my favorite thing. EVER.
"Whatcha doin'?" A question I ask expecting detail. I want it to be like I was right there with him.
"Helping mom look at apartments and houses to rent..."
"Cool. That sounds like fun. Ya findin' anything?"
"Yeah...I'm going to sign a year lease to live with her."
"Oh." He's doing WHAT!?
Now he's going on about prices and other such details. But, I can't remember a thing he says. I'm stuck on "Year Lease."
"What about candidate school?" I ask. "You're going to be traveling a lot, too. Right?"
"Yeah."
I'm so confused.
"Cool." And I feel like a dork, because all I can say is "cool."
Silence.
"Well, I'd better go. I need to pay attention to where I'm giong."
STUPID excuse, since I always talked to him while riding my bike. No-handed even.
He doesn't catch on.
"Ok, babe. Love ya."
"Uh,huh....loveyoutoo."
And I'm officially sad, mad...feeling sick.
We hang up.
I call Gina.
I cry to her. "He's going to live with his mom for a year! That means...that means...he's not even thinking about getting married! A whole year with his mom!"
*bawl,bawl,bawl*
Drama. Queen.
This is the day...rainy day on my bike. Note the shiny object on the right (your left)side of my head. That'd be the hands-free phone thingy.

And two more pictures from back in the day...seeing a common "cord" between the two? Yes, I would be talking to Jim on that same hands-free thingy in both pictures. Yay for Free Verizon to Verizon during times of separation! Oh, and sorry 'bout the blur in that one. I'm cleaning my bathroom before I move. It's probably a good thing it's blurry.

Friday Fill-In with Liz and the Giant Eye
So, are we going south for the winter?
A Sunday School lesson is what's up ahead. We're off to another meeting this Sunday...ready to share our burden for Germany!
I love to to tell the story, of unseen things above. Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
I need to think of some sort of plan to be better organized and use my time wisely.
I walk a lot more when a.) it's warmer outside and b.) I don't have a car.
I'm gonna have to echo Sara's fill-in...Jesus Christ is the true elixir of life!
And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to the mall, tomorrow my plans include 2, maybe 3 photoshoots and Sunday, I want to share what Jesus did for me and convey our burden for GERMANY!
And because a post is ALWAYS better with a picture...my favorite from yesterday.
Liz & the Giant Eye
Liz is a long-time dear friend and fellow lover of photography. See her work here!
