Time flies...TOO fast. On our drive up to MN, we were playing "Name That Tune" to help pass the time. I got up to 27 pts. and said "Hey! That's how old I am!"
To which Jim replied, "Last year, that's how old you were."
"I know," I said, and with GREAT emphasis proceeded to explain. "Last year...in December...I turned 27."
"You were born in 1981 and in December 2010 you will be 29." said Jim, very matter of fact. It's his gift. :/
And without skipping a beat, I screamed "NOOOOOOoooooo!" And we laughed with tears in our eyes for the next few miles. I know, not safe while driving (in a windy rainstorm, no less)
I'm not even joking. I really thought I was 27 and was mortally wounded to hear I was GOING to be 29 on my next birthday. *sigh*
Here's another back-up story to prove this isn't the first time this has happened.
I visited Jim's office in the maintainence bldg. last spring. And my friend, Jamie had noted her birthday on the calendar. She wrote "Jamie's 26th Birthday" sometime in May.
"Jamie!" I exclaimed. "I thought you were younger than I am! We're the same age...in May, you'll be 26, and I'm 26 now, so we'll be the same age for 7 months. Then, I'll be 27 in December."
Jamie wasn't so sure. "Aren't you 27 now?"
"No." I replied as matter-of-fact as Jim might. "I'm 26. I'm sure of it."
Then Jim walked in the room.
"I'm 26, right Jim?" I tried to confirm.
"No, Sarah. You're 27."
"WHAT?! You're kidding me!" I really need to keep up with my birthdays.

Sarah, I am the SAME way!!! I always forget how old I am, though I know exactly how many months old my kids are. :)
This had me laughing so hard, but I have no room to laugh since I've done the same thing! We went to a buffet at a casino with the in-laws several years ago and I got "carded" while walking across the game floor. I told them I was 23 and Chad said, "Umm... actually you're 24," and we argued that point for a minute. We totally confused the security guard, who must've thought I was a little insane, and he let us go. But now I'm "29" and will be for SEVERAL more years. :)
bahahaha! you crack me up!
i wonder what happened to your lost year...
i am very sure that i will be 35 on tuesday. i am getting old. what's your excuse, missy?
I've done the same thing - my birthday is tomorrow and I have to remind myself exactly how old I am but I'm sure in 2 months or so I'll be forgetting and "change" my date!
My sister has done this at least twice. :) I've never had an issue with it, but I do have issues with other things. Like giving people my mom or sister's phone number instead of giving them my own! Argh!!
You are so funny, Sarah =)
My story: When I was at the doc for the first prenatal check with Molly, I told the nurse my age incorrectly. My older children corrected me when I got home and was trying to remember just how old I really was -- Guess I should just do the math every time someone asks.
Time flies, ya know? And there must be more important items taking up space in our brains...
You kill me. I love when stuff like that happens. On our way home from the hospital with Lucy, Ben said what he thought I was thinking and it was DEAD ON...I cried for miles because I was laughing so hard. :)
Your too funny Sarah :D
LOL! If it makes you feel any better, last week I had to call our electric company to pay for our bill because I somehow lost the one they'd mailed me. The representative I was talking to asked for my address and I FORGOT IT. Seriously, blanked for probably 15 seconds and said, "Uh..." about 10 times. Embarrassing.
Oh my so funny Sarah! I am so spacey about that stuff. Addresses, kids birthdays...Sometimes I will tell someone a zip code from where we lived in Colorado or a place I don't even remember growing up, just pops into my head. And by the way the phone number in the LMF directory is wrong because I told them the wrong number. Didn't realize it until way late.
I love your story. Thanks for making another forgetful mom feel better. (-:
So funny Sarah!! :-D
I'm thinking about u!

The same thing happened to me between 27-29, that is hilarious!
Do you remember when you were a child and between birthdays seemed forever? Now it is a blink of an eye. Ugh...how did I get in my 30s?
